INTRODUCTION TO PRESENTATIONS ON THE DOCUMENTS OF THE VATICAN II COUNCIL

The following are outlines of presentations at Saint James parish on most of the documents of the Second Vatican Council, which met from 1962-1965 as the latest of the Church’s twenty-one ecumenical councils. The Council published sixteen documents, which consisted of four constitutions (the most central teachings), nine decrees and three declarations, with the declarations focused on dealings with other Christians and people of other faiths. Due to time considerations, the presentations covered the constitutions, the declarations, and two of the decrees. Presentations on the other seven decrees will be published soon. The outlines briefly describe the history behind each document and then summarize its teachings with some comments on later developments .
